Why did you become part of the Scarborough Pride committee?

I joined the committee as I think a pride event would be so important for Scarborough and the area. I never knew anyone in the LGBTQIA+ community when I was growing up in Whitby which made coming out very difficult. Seeing events like Pride happen here and like minded people in Scarborough will help the young people of the area feel able to express their sexuality and gender.

I am excited to join the Pride committee to raise awareness and bring people together. I love that the work that Scarborough Pride do in the community to eliminate discrimination and promote equality and diversity align with my own personal values and I am looking forward to supporting the community to move forward!

Why did you become part of the Scarborough Pride committee?

I feel that it is so important for Scarborough to have its own Pride events and charity, to support and raise awareness for the local LGBTQ+ community.

I wanted to be a part of something that helps the community to know that they can feel safe and be themselves, which is also echoed in the values that I push for in my own Tattoo Studio.

Why did you become part of the Scarborough Pride committee?

I moved to Scarborough 3 years ago with my partner and was amazed by how little visibility there was towards the LGBTQIA+ community considering how close we are to other local towns/cities. I joined the Scarborough pride committee because I want to help change that and turn our town into a place where the LGBTQIA+ community can be themselves, and be proud to call Scarborough there safe place and not live in fear, by brining people together whether it be pride, support groups or even monthly events. I feel Scarborough pride is very much needed now more than ever. Providing a bright, clear and safe future for the next LGBTQIA+ generation is important.

Why did you become part of the Scarborough Pride committee?

I wanted to contribute towards the local LGBTQIA+ community.  After moving here I realised there wasn't anything for the local LGBTQIA+ community and I wanted to be a part of the team that could work together and change that.

Why did you become part of the Scarborough Pride committee?

Having been through a long journey with my own identity, the last few years have seen me become much more comfortable in my skin. I am in a place in my life where I want to celebrate the community and it’s a privilege to be involved with helping make an amazing Pride event happen in my hometown.
